UNIQA Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń Spółka Akcyjna is one of the Polish insurers with longest tradition. The company was established in Łódź on May 14th 1990 and named Zakład Ubezpieczeń i Reasekuracji POLONIA S.A. From the very beginning the company has been dynamically growing and occupying top positions in branch rankings. In 2002 it took the 6th place among insurance companies and 37th among the hundred largest financial institutions in Poland. On June 22nd 2001 UNIQA Group Austria seated in Vienna took over 98,2 per cent of the shares of POLONIA S.A., thus becoming its strategic investor. The liaison with a strong European holding turned out to be a powerful impulse for further development. In June 2002 the General Assembly of Shareholders decided upon the brand name change to UNIQA Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń Spółka Akcyjna. Upon this decision the company functioned as Zakład Ubezpieczeń i Reasekuracji POLONIA S.A. until March 24th 2003.

UNIQA Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń Spółka Akcyjna is one of the insurance companies with highest share capital. This, amounting to PLN 95,92 million, gives the company the possibility to develop optimally and also secures interests of the customers. The financial result of four quarters 2002 confirm the good position of the company in the property and personal insurance market. The firm systematically raises its market share, while decreasing the loss ratio at the same time. UNIQA TU S.A. holds a considerable surplus of own means to cover the guarantee capital and the solvency margin. The company has its technical-insurance reserve fully covered with assets.

UNIQA Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń na Życie Spółka Akcyjna is one of the Polish life insurers with longest tradition. The company was established of the insurance company GRYF Life, which had been started in 1994. The bankrupt GRYF Life was taken over by Zakład Ubezpieczeń i Reasekuracji POLONIA S.A. On Dec 27th 2001 UNIQA Group Austria holding became a majority shareholder of POLONIA-Życie S.A. On June 19th 2002 the General Assembly of Shareholders decided upon the brand name change to UNIQA Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń na Życie Spółka Akcyjna. Upon this decision the company functioned as Zakład Ubezpieczeń i Reasekuracji POLONIA-Życie S.A. until March 24th 2003.

What do we offer?
UNIQA Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń na Życie Spółka Akcyjna offers life insurances, dowry and children maintenance insurances, accident, and disease insurances. Soon it is planned to introduce into sales new group and individual products, which are being prepared in co-operation with specialists from UNIQA Group. The product to commence this process was "Życie & Ochrona" introduced in July 2002. Further products currently being developed are: term life insurance, endowment insurance and endowment with increasing death benefit.

Strong foundations
UNIQA Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń na Życie Spółka Akcyjna meets all security standards required by Polish law. The share capital of the company amounts to PLN 16,3 million. After four quarters of 2002 the surplus of own means to cover the solvency margin amounted to PLN 8,0 million and that to cover the guarantee capital - PLN 6,2 million. The company has its technical-insurance reserve fully covered with assets.
